Reuben was the son of Jacob-Israel and Leah. Reuben was one of the 12 tribes of Israel.
Genesis 29:32 And Leah conceived
and bore a son, and she called his name Reuben, for she said, "Because the
Lord has looked upon my affliction; for now my husband will love me."
Jacob-Israel’s blessing to Reuben:
Genesis 49:3 "Reuben, you are
my firstborn, my might, and the firstfruits of my strength, preeminent in
dignity and preeminent in power. 4 Unstable as water, you shall not have
preeminence, because you went up to your father's bed; then you defiled it—he
went up to my couch!
